For en jævn afbrænding skal du lade stearinlyset smelte helt ud til kanterne første gang — cirka 2 timer. Før hver brug skal du trimme vægen til 1/4 tomme for at forhindre sort røg og sod. For bedste resultat bør du undgå at brænde i mere end 3 timer ad gangen og holde vokspuljen fri for snavs. Efterlad aldrig dit stearinlys uden opsyn.
I let it burn the full two hours on the first go and the wax pooled perfectly to the edges, no tunneling at all. The cassis scent fills the room without being overpowering, and trimming the wick to a quarter inch before each light really does keep the smoke away.
The wick trimming to a quarter inch really makes a difference—no soot at all, even after several burns. I let it pool completely on the first light as instructed, and the melt is perfectly even every time since.
I was skeptical about the 2-hour first burn, but letting it melt to the edges made the second lighting so much smoother. The wick trims easily and I haven't seen a wisp of black smoke since.
